Middle Dog Syndrome

Okay, at first I was the baby of the family and that was awesome; I got treats, people oooo-ed and awwww-ed when I did silly things like play dead, give a paw, stuff like that.  Then a few years later, I made SEVEN puppies; Mama and Daddy kept a boy and named him, Murphy.  So that put me in the middle…nobody pays much attention to the middle dog….there’s usually an older, smarter one and a young, cuter one.  Uncle Greg got Murphy so then I was the baby again…yipeeee!  Sadly, my Snoopy Mama died last year and just before that, we got huge, Casey puppy!  That made me the head honcho for the first time so no more “doggie in the middle”!

Then a couple months ago, Ma came home carrying a tiny, shiny little dog they call Rosie……her ears stick up, her head is crooked, she coughs really loud, bangs into things when she walks, always wants more food, is kinda deaf and when she barks it sounds like she is saying “BARREL”!!  Mama spoils her by carrying her outside and in when she has to do her thing, and puts clothes on Rosie when it’s not even Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day or Halloween?!?!?!  What’s up with that, Ma?  Maybe I wanna wear my hot-pink “Witchy-poo” dress the middle of November?  Did ya ever think of that, Ma?

Anyways, getting back to this new dog:   I thought I was losing it one (late summer) day when I saw Mama put Rosie in a doggie stroller and parade around the park with signs on it saying, “Rosie the Rescue, blind, deaf and loved”.  Whatever!  How come I don’t get to roll along in a stroller?  I get tired too after big walks, Ma!!

Other stuff about Rosie:   I heard that she was found wondering on a busy road, lived in a shelter and was never claimed, even after weeks – I think that’s pretty mean!!  She has been here for a couple months so I guess Rosie is staying…I guess I’m okay with that…I also heard she is at least 13 years old…how can she be older than me and so tiny??

Closing thoughts:  I’m actually glad Rosie’s not a young, crazy puppy bugging me all day…she sleeps most of the day….hey, I’ll tell you a secret….  Ma wasn’t paying as much attention to me so I peed in the hallway a couple times and now she gives me extra cuddles and treats 😉  Signing off now and to all my doggy friends out there, keep on chasin’ those squirrels….woof!

  1. So cute! Is that a goldendoodle sleeping on the doggie bed? He looks just like my Jack 🙂

    • Oh, no, my original blog name, tried to change it was “willowthewheatenwonderswhy”…she Willow and she “writes” the blog through me 😉 She is a purebred, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, laying on the pillow, we also have Casey the Standard Poodle, and new to our family is Rosie the Silky Terrier…love your dogs…saw pics..so sweet and you are an amazing photographer…what camera do you use?

      • We almost chose a Wheaten Terrier, they are adorable 🙂 We have a Goldendoodle and a Cavachon. Thank you for the compliment on my photography, I’m just a beginner! I’m using a Nikon Coolpix L120, althoughhhhhh, I think Santa might be bringing me an upgrade! Let’s hope I’ve been good enough!

    • don’t know if I answered, but Casey isn’t a goldendoodle..he’s a Standard Poodle..we fool people by giving him a beard ;-
