It’s My “Pawty” and I’ll Whine if I want to!

I'm 13, give me cheese, Mama!

Willow turns 13 years, with Casey and Pepper siblings

Hello you dog-blog lovers, this is Willow the Wheaten and Mama says I am a “Spring baby” and I am now 13 years old!!!!  Both my parents died at age 12 so I’m really lucky to still be here.  I am puppy number six of six and want to also wish my brothers Scully and Brodie (North Carolina) a Happy 13th Woofday too!  I’ll send them butterfly kisses through “the Facebook thingy”.

About “whining” – don’t know what that is but Mama says I whine when I went out, want in, want her to hurry up and pick up my “tah-tah’s” after I’ve done my business, when Casey comes home from Doggie Daycare and doesn’t get out of the car quick enough.   I whine when Daddy is in the kitchen and I can’t get to kiss him ’cause the gate is in the way!

I’m slowing down and panting a lot on walks, but I am always a good girl when it comes to dinner-time.  Mama will spoil me with special treats on the “weekend” when she has more time.  Until then, this is Willow The Wheaten signing off:   “Woof out!”

Sister, Act II, a Dog Story

three dogs in the yardWell, me and my brother, Casey (Standard Poodle..aka “SPOO”) went for a road trip with Mama about 13 sleeps ago. It was crazy bright outside cause lots of snow fell the day before. We drove for a while and I got to ride in the back beside my brother, cause we both had our doggie seatbelts on. When we got to a lady’s house, I got to walk with a little dog that kinda looked like Rosie (little Silky sister that went to doggie heaven). This little “chic” growled at me when I sniffed her but that didn’t stop me. Then we walked together, no big deal. Then huge Casey walked with her..he’s crazy! He was bouncing around like a Mexican Jumping Bean, whatever that is. She was making funny sounds at him. Then he started to behave. Next thing you know, she is in a little doggie box in the front seat driving home with us! She made such funny crying sounds like a human baby, almost the whole way too. Maybe she thought she was going to the doggie doctor…blah!

I guess it’s pretty cool having a little sister around again; what’s even better is this sister is a lot younger than me, she can see (not like almost blind Rosie), fetches her little sock monkey, chases squirrels that I can’t catch and chases Casey sometimes so I don’t have to! I guess she’s pretty cool for a tiny dog. She keeps me company when Casey goes to his doggie daycare to play with the other big dogs. I think we’ll keep her…for now..ha ha…. She keeps sitting on Mama’s lap…Hey, that was MY place! Mama also lets me sleep on her lap still, but not as often.

We have a very happy doggie family again, my fellow Peeps and that’s all I got for now…so keep on kissin’ your people!

Middle Dog Syndrome

Okay, at first I was the baby of the family and that was awesome; I got treats, people oooo-ed and awwww-ed when I did silly things like play dead, give a paw, stuff like that.  Then a few years later, I made SEVEN puppies; Mama and Daddy kept a boy and named him, Murphy.  So that put me in the middle…nobody pays much attention to the middle dog….there’s usually an older, smarter one and a young, cuter one.  Uncle Greg got Murphy so then I was the baby again…yipeeee!  Sadly, my Snoopy Mama died last year and just before that, we got huge, Casey puppy!  That made me the head honcho for the first time so no more “doggie in the middle”!

Then a couple months ago, Ma came home carrying a tiny, shiny little dog they call Rosie……her ears stick up, her head is crooked, she coughs really loud, bangs into things when she walks, always wants more food, is kinda deaf and when she barks it sounds like she is saying “BARREL”!!  Mama spoils her by carrying her outside and in when she has to do her thing, and puts clothes on Rosie when it’s not even Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day or Halloween?!?!?!  What’s up with that, Ma?  Maybe I wanna wear my hot-pink “Witchy-poo” dress the middle of November?  Did ya ever think of that, Ma?

Anyways, getting back to this new dog:   I thought I was losing it one (late summer) day when I saw Mama put Rosie in a doggie stroller and parade around the park with signs on it saying, “Rosie the Rescue, blind, deaf and loved”.  Whatever!  How come I don’t get to roll along in a stroller?  I get tired too after big walks, Ma!!

Other stuff about Rosie:   I heard that she was found wondering on a busy road, lived in a shelter and was never claimed, even after weeks – I think that’s pretty mean!!  She has been here for a couple months so I guess Rosie is staying…I guess I’m okay with that…I also heard she is at least 13 years old…how can she be older than me and so tiny??

Closing thoughts:  I’m actually glad Rosie’s not a young, crazy puppy bugging me all day…she sleeps most of the day….hey, I’ll tell you a secret….  Ma wasn’t paying as much attention to me so I peed in the hallway a couple times and now she gives me extra cuddles and treats 😉  Signing off now and to all my doggy friends out there, keep on chasin’ those squirrels….woof!

Why did Mama have to get another dog?

What did I do?

You won’t believe what my little brother, Casey (Standard Poodle) did AFTER Daddy got home tonight…after greeting Daddy, Mommy went to clean something, then Casey scarfed down two sticks of butter in seconds!  It was so impressive…I wish I could reach the kitchen counter but now I’m glad I can’t cause I’ve never seen Mommy SO mad….. she was yelling, “Down!” and he had to do a MAJOR time-out!  It gets worse:  then, after dinner he played tug-a-war with Daddy using that old stuffed bunny rabbit for a couple minutes……then Casey was really quiet (that’s always trouble)…… next thing I know, Mommy is asking me in a funny voice if I know why there’s stuffing everywhere…of course I looked guilty ’cause of the way Mommy asked…but she figured it out and I’m SO glad I’m not Casey………….he may have to sleep outside tonight!

I’m too old for this S#@*!

Today, Mama told me she was taking us on a two-mile run/walk..whatever that means..all I know is that halfway home, I had to rest…Can’t she count?  I’m 9 years old times 7 which is….I have no idea…OLD, OKAY??  I had to lay down on some dude’s weedy lawn but it was better than the sidewalk…..AND that crazy young Casey was barely out of breath!  Of course, Mama had to take photos…”Hey, Ma, bring water next time okay?  And enough of that “running” thing!

Too Hot for Wheatens

Mama took me (Willow the Wheaten) and little brother, Casey (Standard Poodle) for a walk..it was too hot for us…I’m so glad when she let me lay in a field of buttercups!  I couldn’t stop panting so we walked through the park and I got to do my second-favorite thing- puddle surfing!  Man, I can’t wait for that cold, white fluffy stuff to fall again…I think we only got to play in that stuff once these past few months….oh well, Daddy put in that noisy machine in the window so I can feel cool…that’ll have to do for now…

Can dogs smile?

Mom showed me this picture of little brother, Casey (Standard Poodle) “smiling” with his new girlfriend, Leila the Rottweiller… at doggie daycare, www.offtheleashddc.com but I think it’s just gas.  Oh well, I’m not jealous cause I have Mom all to myself today; we already walked and snuggled AND when little bro’ comes home tonight, he’ll be too pooped to bug me to play with him….afterall, I’m 9 years old now which means I feel like I’m 63 and couch-surfing is now my favorite hobby. 😉

Spring Morning Walk

What kind of flower am I?

Mama took me (Willow) Spring walkand little brother, Casey for a morning walk today; we started eating long grass so Mama took pictures…she didn’t let me finish eating and kept pulling me, even when I wanted to stop and peeee!  Finally got that done….that little brother of mine isn’t so little anymore, either…I used to be so much bigger than him…he’s not so smart like Poodles are supposed to be..he keeps thinking he’s gonna catch those squirrels…tries to climb trees all the time…one day he’ll learn….
